Four criminals, arrested a week earlier by the Khurrianwala Police, escaped from the police custody near Makuana, when they were locked up after interrogation.

The criminals were involved in a number of crimes, including murder and dacoities. Two police constables Muhammad Amjad and Muhammad Rafique were arrested for their negligence in duty, as they were on duty. Further investigation was in progress.
